Welcome to Jessie’s Treasures, Inc. and thank you for visiting our site. We started in the antique business after purchasing several antique's for our home and it quickly became our passion. We have learned so much over the years and continue to learn something new everyday. You will find everything from old to new and from A to Z on our site. But, our real love is antique furniture. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. If we do not know the answer, we will tell you. But, we will earnestly try to find an answer for you. Our goal is to make your experience a pleasurable one.

As with everyone else in this world, we have our own opinion regarding antiques. And, to be quite honest, it is a tainted opinion because they fascinate us. Here is why we feel everyone should own, at least, one, two or maybe even a whole house full! With every antique, there is a whole world of history behind it just waiting to be told. Although, most of us will never know what that fascinating history might be. But, just letting our minds wonder the possibilities are intriguing to us. Wondering who might have owned it, whose hands it was handcrafted by and all the places it might have been. Maybe it adorned a far-away castle; or, maybe it crossed the country in a covered wagon; or, maybe it survived a war. On rare occasion, a family may have recorded and kept the stories and lineage of an antique’s history. These antiques are especially valuable, from a personal and historical point of view. Although we do buy and sell antiques, we cherish those “family” antiques and heirlooms which we have been blessed to have handed down to us. Some of the stories of these antiques, we know and some of the stories, sadly, have been lost. Antiques are something especially unique that can be handed down from generation to generation. And, even though an antique that you purchase obviously did not originate within your own family, it can soon become a beloved part of the family to be cherished for generations. We simply do not see any sentimental attachment, these days, to new/used furniture. But, stop and listen to the emotion in someone’s voice when they speak about an antique or heirloom, which used to belong to a beloved family member. The sentiment is undeniable.

Another reason we have such a passion for antiques is the simply the sheer unmatched craftsmanship. Unfortunately, the days of an individual taking pride in every piece of furniture that they painstakingly and lovingly made with their hands has all but disappeared. Along with the disappearance of quality craftsmanship, is the disappearance of quality materials. Solid woods, dovetail drawers, wood pins, nails and various solid metal hardware are being replaced by veneered covered press board, glue, staples and color-toned hardware. We can almost be certain that the majority of the new furniture purchased from most of the various furniture stores, these days, will not withstand the test of time, like a quality hand-crafted antique.

We do understand some people’s aversion to owning an antique. Most antiques have nicks, scratches and imperfections and are sometimes a little wobbly. But, if you notice over the years, people also get nicks, scratches and imperfections and are sometime a little wobbly too. We know this from personal experience! To us, this purely adds character. The scars and imperfections simply tell a story and tell of a life lived. So, the next time you look at an antique, stop and really take the time to appreciate its history and enduring craftsmanship. You might just find yourself seeing antiques in a whole new light and with a new found respect.

Thank you, once again, for visiting our site. We hope your visit is enjoyable.
